ABSTRACT

Background: The utilization of virtual healthcare services, particularly telemedicine, has been accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the pandemic is no longer the primary concern, telemedicine still holds potential for long-term adoption. However, implementing telemedicine in Indonesia as an online platform for remote healthcare delivery still faces issues, despite its potential. Further investigation is required to identify the factors that affect its adoption and develop strategies to surmount implementation challenges. Objective: This study aims to examine and enrich knowledge about the adoption of telemedicine in Indonesia. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted through an online questionnaire to collect data. Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) was employed by integrating with several factors, such as eHealth Literacy, Privacy Concerns, and Trust. Gender and age were considered as moderating variables. Data samples were analyzed using Partial Least Square - Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Results: The findings suggest that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, eHealth literacy, and trust have a significant impact on adults' behavioral intention to use telemedicine. However, facilitating condition, price value, and privacy concern do not show any significant effects on adults' Behavioral Intention to Use Telemedicine. Conclusion: This study highlights the importance of understanding adoption factors to develop effective strategies. Results show performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, eHealth literacy, and trust are significant factors, while facilitating condition, price value, and privacy concern are not. The UTAUT2 model is a good predictive tool for healthcare adoption. To increase usage intention, several aspects must be considered in the implementation of telemedicine. © 2023 The Authors. ABSTRACT

This paper aimed to examine fitness club members' willingness to start exercising in the clubs with the end of the lockdown. The Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) was used in order to explore which of its components can predict club members' intention;furthermore, the degree to which leisure constraints can predict the formation of the elements of the TPB was tested. Three hundred and twenty three (N = 323) questionnaires were used;they were collected with an on-line survey, during the second lockdown in Greece. The results indicated that almost one out of three of the club members do not intend to return to the clubs when they are allowed to open. All the three elements of the TPB were contributed to the prediction of Intentions, with the Attitudes having the highest contribution. The Covid19, Hygienic and Financial constraint dimensions were the most influential on the formation of the elements of the TPB. ABSTRACT

This study investigated the impact of perceived interactivity on behavioral intention in the context of virtual conferences in the post-COVID-19 era. With academic conferences moving exclusively online due to the pandemic, there is a gap in the literature regarding attendees' attitudes and perceived benefits regarding these events. This study developed the technology acceptance model (TAM) by treating perceived conference interactivity as the antecedent construct of the TAM. The moderating role of self-congruity and the mediating effect of perceived quality were also studied to understand the behavioral intention of attending future virtual conferences. Using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM), a sample of 327 academic staff members in Lebanon was analyzed. Our study found that perceived interactivity and quality both positively influenced behavioral intentions. Additionally, perceived interactivity was positively associated with the perceived quality of virtual conferences, and self-congruity further strengthened this relationship. Our study also revealed that perceived quality mediates the relationship between perceived interactivity and behavioral intention to attend future virtual conferences. This study fills a gap in the literature by examining the impact of perceived interactivity and quality on behavioral intention toward virtual conferences in the post-COVID-19 era. Our findings provide insights into consumer behavior at virtual conferences and can contribute to the development of the TAM via an exploration of its applicability in the context of online events.

ABSTRACT

Employing the stressor-strain-outcome framework, this study demonstrates that COVID-19 information overload on social media exerts a significant effect on the level of fatigue toward COVID-19-related messages. This feeling of message fatigue also makes people avoid another exposure to similar types of messages while diminishing their intentions to adopt protective behaviors in response to the pandemic. Information overload regarding COVID-19 on social media also has indirect effects on message avoidance and protective behavioral intention against COVID-19, respectively, through the feeling of fatigue toward COVID-19 messages on social media. This study emphasizes the need to consider message fatigue as a significant barrier in delivering effective risk communication.

ABSTRACT

The outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) promoted online teaching on an unprecedented scale, raising researchers' attention to the importance of faculty's acceptance of this urgent teaching shift. This study aimed to explore the influence of organizational factors on faculty's acceptance of online teaching in terms of behavioral intention and perceived usefulness. A multilevel structural equation model was employed to analyze data on 209,058 faculty in 858 higher education institutions based on a nationwide survey conducted in mainland China. The results showed that three key organizational factors, namely strategic planning, leadership, and teaching quality monitoring, impacted faculty's acceptance of online teaching, although in different ways. Strategic planning had a direct impact on perceived usefulness, while leadership had a direct impact on behavioral intentions, and teaching quality monitoring had a direct impact on both perceived usefulness and behavioral intentions. In addition, an indirect effect was found between strategic planning and faculty's behavioral intentions through the mediation of the perceived usefulness of online teaching. The findings of this study have practical implications for college administrators and policymakers, which should effectively implement and promote online teaching and learning, and consider key organizational factors to increase faculty acceptance.

ABSTRACT

Aim/Purpose The main aims of this research are to explore the moderating effects of gender on the relationships of such factors and the intention to use mobile learning, to examine the factors that influence m-learning acceptance in the universities and higher education institutions (HEI) in Iraq, and to investigate the influence of the intention to use on the actual use of mobile learning in (HEI). Background Over recent decades, mobile learning has played an increasingly important role in the teaching and learning process, especially for higher education. As such, acceptance and use of mobile learning has become a topic of interest within the education sector. In this regard, UTAUT is one of the widely used models for examining users' intention for use and acceptance of information technology.Methodology A survey method was used in this study involving a sample of 323 participants recruited from several universities in Iraq. Contribution This study has made significant contributions to the advancement of m -learn- ing in Iraq by developing a mobile learning model that can help guide practi- tioners to promote and facilitate the use of such an approach in universities.Findings The findings showed that gender moderated the relationships of social influ- ence (SI), effort expectancy (EE), and performance expectancy (PE) with re- spondents' intention to use m-learning. In addition, the findings confirmed the perceived enjoyment, performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), self-efficacy (SE), and social influence (SI) had significant direct effects on in- tention to use m-learning. Furthermore, the respondents' intention to use or be- havioral intention had a significant impact on the actual use of m-learning.Recommendations for PractitionersIt is vital for university management and practitioners to encourage students about the advantages of mobile learning in higher education institutions. In Iraq, the research in mobile learning is still very new and there are few studies have analyzed the gender effect on the mobile technology acceptance in learn- ing. This study provides a roadmap of the gender effect on variables that could influence mobile learning acceptance in higher education institutions in Iraq.Recommendations for Researchers The gender moderation effect on the factors that influence the mobile learning acceptance is important, thus the new researchers are advised to examine the gender effect on other factors that could influence mobile learning acceptance. Moreover, cross-nation studies are needed to further validate the findings of this research because it was conducted from the perspective of a developing na- tion where mobile learning is still in its infancy. Future studies may broaden the research to examine additional potential elements, such as the quality of ser- vices in future models, which can help enhance the understanding of learners' acceptance and continuous usage of mobile learning as well as to improve the utility of UTAUT.Impact on Society The use of mobile learning has increased in its importance for higher education around the globe, including Iraq. Clearly, mobile learning has been pervasively used in education throughout the world due to the Covid-19 pandemic. During this time, students were required to study at home for months as per govern- ments' orders in order to avoid being affected by the virus. With mobile learn- ing, students were able to continue their studies;otherwise, they would have missed the academic year. Academic staff and administrators should therefore encourage and employ mobile learning for instruction, student communication, and exam administration.Future Research Given that the UTAUT model was used in higher educational settings for this research, it is advised to look into its application in corporate settings to see if comparable results can be repeated or not. More research is advised to look at the moderating effects of demographic factors, such as age and place of origin, in order to shed more light on students' adoption of mobile learning in HEIs in developing nations.

ABSTRACT

Studies have been conducted on university students' acceptance of e-learning systems during COVID-19. However, less attention has been paid to students' use of e-learning post-pandemic. This research provides a more comprehensive framework to investigate the effects of e-learning students' various quality perceptions on attitude, learning engagement, and stickiness toward e-learning platforms. A survey-based quantitative method is adopted by this study in which sample data are collected from students in Australian universities. A total of 403 valid samples were analysed using covariance-based structural equation modelling. This study found that students' perceived educational quality, service quality, information quality, and technical system quality play different roles in their attitudes and behaviours towards e-learning. It expands the information system success model by comparing the effects of students' various perceived qualities on their ongoing commitment to e-learning. It provides insights to e-learning providers in pursuing better designs and more sustainable development of educational information systems.

ABSTRACT

The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) is a potential paradigm for explaining technology adoption and can be applied to a wide range of scenarios. During the COVID-19 (C-19) outbreak in China, mobile-payment platforms (Mpayment) were used extensively in everyday life because they allowed people to avoid direct and indirect connections during transactions, adhere to social-distancing guidelines, and support social-economic stabilization. By exploring the technological and psychological variables that influenced user Mpayment-adoption intentions during the C-19 pandemic, this study broadens the literature on technology adoption in emergency circumstances and expands the UTAUT. A total of 593 complete samples were collected online, with SPSS used for data analysis. The empirical findings reveal that performance expectancy, trust, perceived security, and social influence all had a significant influence on Mpayment acceptance during the C-19 outbreak, with social distancing having the greatest impact, followed by fear of C-19. Interestingly, perceived-effort expectancy had a negative influence on payment acceptance. These findings suggest that future studies should apply the expanded model to different countries and areas to investigate the impact of the C-19 pandemic on Mpayment acceptance.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, much focus has been placed on the healthcare benefits of wearing face masks, yet some people resist wearing them. Though mask mandates may enhance face mask adoption in the short run, the effectiveness of such mandates, in the long run, remains questionable. Thus, understanding of psychological and sociological mechanisms behind wearing face masks becomes pertinent. This study by examining these underlying mechanisms, tends to answer two research questions: (1) How does regulatory focus impact one's behavior to wear face masks? (2) How does the impact of regulatory focus on this behavior vary under different cultural orientations? Drawing on the theory of regulatory fit, we found that people with a prevention focus will have fewer concerns about wearing face masks than people with a promotion focus. In addition, we also found that prevention-focused people who exhibited a cultural orientation with higher levels of collectivism, masculinity, power distance, and uncertainty avoidance had fewer concerns about face mask wearing perception and were more likely to wear face masks than did promotion-focused people with the same cultural orientation. ABSTRACT

Macao is a tourist city. It is home to the Ruins of Saint Paul's, a unique 100-year-old landmark, which is still standing with manual maintenance, even after three fires and reconstruction events. Therefore, the continuous preservation of its culture, heritage education, and construction are important issues for Macao. With the development of digital technology in recent years, users can quickly search historical sites and save two-dimensional and three-dimensional images and videos through smartphones. These methods also enhance the communication power of culture. Virtual browsing on a smartphone requires computing power and storage space;yet, virtual reality devices are not widely used. Therefore, augmented reality and virtual reality are rarely used simultaneously for three-dimensional interactive guided tours and operation experiences on the same theme. However, by quickly creating virtual reality scenarios and preserving historical sites on mobile devices, 4DAGE's 4DKanKan technology can provide augmented reality and metaverse virtual reality experiences. 4DKanKan can also integrate mobile guides and navigation software to connect mobile devices and assist in cultural inheritance and conduct sustainable education. This research linked this technology to the web by incorporating augmented reality and virtual reality technology to make designs and discussed the influences among service design, behavioral intentions, and learning effects. We collated and analyzed relevant data and text materials through systematic testing, observation, operation processes, and semi-structured interviews. The PLS multigroup structural model was used to explore and analyze the degree of influence and explanatory power of system quality, information quality, behavioral intention, and learning effects among themselves. The results of this study show that most users accepted the proposed innovative mode of operation and found it to be interesting and fun. Augmented reality is not limited by space or time;however, virtual reality devices taking too long to operate, switching too frequently, and having too many functional interfaces can cause operational problems. This study identified and modified the influencing factors and problems of the proposed system, with the aim of continuing to expand the applications of 4DKanKan to other cultural attractions or museums in the future. In addition, the research results can provide a reference for the sustainable development of related cultural sites.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Low birthweight is a health issue disproportionately experienced by Black women. In Hillsborough County, Florida, Black women experience higher rates of low birthweight compared to the rest of Florida. This study examines the feasibility of a second attempt to use a digital low birthweight campaign to increase knowledge about low birthweight and pregnancy among Black women in Hillsborough. METHODS: Content for the Growing and Glowing campaign was delivered on social media through a web series with local prenatal care providers and educational images. Two cross-sectional surveys examined changes in pregnancy-related knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors among Black women in Hillsborough. Digital metrics showed campaign reach and engagement. RESULTS: Growing and Glowing attained 1,234 followers, 805,437 impressions, and a reach of 19,875. Web series videos were viewed almost 27,000 times, with 89% average viewer retention. The website attracted 2,634 unique page views. Evaluation surveys showed significant improvements in positive pregnancy-related intentions. Women aware of the campaign showed significantly higher awareness of the importance of prenatal care, and higher awareness of local resources. CONCLUSION: Results from the second study of this campaign approach suggest that using a highly targeted digital intervention can be a well-received and potentially effective way to deliver pregnancy-related health information to Black women, even during a global pandemic. This approach has numerous benefits in reaching women who may fall outside traditional health marketing approaches.

ABSTRACT

The means by which business leaders implement human resources management strategies to improve employee retention during crisis is currently not well understood. This indicates that theoretical understanding of the relationship between ethical leadership behaviors, perceptions of justice, and employee turnover in the context of crises is deficient. The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect, if any, of perceived overall justice on the relationship between ethical leadership behaviors and employee turnover intention during a moment of crisis, the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Social learning theory and the categorical framework of context provided a theoretical foundation for the nonexperimental quantitative research design. Study participants (N = 199) were randomly selected frontline workers of big-box general merchandise retail and wholesale stores in the United States who had reported to work during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants completed an online survey. Linear regression and analysis of variance tests were used to evaluate responses to an online survey. Results revealed ethical leadership behaviors positively influenced perceived overall justice, but overall justice did not mediate the relationship between ethical leadership behaviors and turnover intentions. The study furthers understanding of the impact of contextual leadership on organizational justice and employee turnover which can help organizational leaders to maximize retention rates and reduce human resource management costs, while also contributing to job market stability. ABSTRACT

Purpose: The objective of this research is to examine determinants of behavioral intention to use online learning among students in a higher vocational collage in China;including perceived ease of use;perceived usefulness;attitude;trust and satisfaction. Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) were the fundamental theories of this study. Research design;data and methodology: A quantitative approach was used to distribute questionnaire to 500 third-grade students in Tianfu Vocational College of Chengdu. Purposive sampling;stratified random sampling;and convenience sampling were employed. After the data collection;confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation model (SEM) were accounted to analyze the data in measurement and structural models;measuring factor loading;reliability;validity and model fit. Results: Perceived ease of use had the strongest influence on perceived usefulness;followed by perceived ease of use on attitude;attitude on behavioral intention;and perceived usefulness on behavioral intention. In opposite;the non-supported relationships were perceived usefulness and attitude;trust and satisfaction;and satisfaction and behavioral intention. Conclusions: The findings implied that academic researchers and education's stakeholders should emphasize ease-of-use and benefits of using an online learning system that can help students' learning experience to be more conveniently and effectively.

The use of technological tools has robustly come to the forefront in form of e-learning with the onset of COVID-19. In the light of the accelerated shift to online classes by the educational institutions in response to the outbreak of the pandemic, the study aims to apply the technology acceptance model (TAM2) to examine the impact of students' social influence, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use on e-learning intention in higher education during COVID-19. Data collected from students of different universities from the Northern region of India were analysed using structural equation modelling. The results revealed that a significant relationship exists between social influence and perceived usefulness of e-learning behavioural intention. The study also confirms the mediation of perceived usefulness between social influence and e-learning behavioural intention and the mediation of perceived usefulness between perceived ease of use and e-learning behavioural intention. The study revealed that social influence and perceived usefulness are the key factors for the acceptance of e-learning in higher education during COVID-19 pandemic. ABSTRACT

PurposeApplying the value creation of corporate social responsibility (CSR), this study aims to investigate the direct effect of preventive measures in the postpandemic world on Airbnb consumers' attitudes toward the host, which may further impact their behavioral intentions. It also examined the mediating role of perceived risk and perceived motives, as well as the moderating role of message strategies and risk tolerance in this process.Design/methodology/approachA 2 (preventive measures: basic versus enhanced) × 2 (message strategies: promotional social cause message [PSC] versus partake-in-our-cause message [PIOC]) between-subjects factorial design was conducted with a sample of 476 US Airbnb consumers through an online survey. PROCESS macro was used for hypothesis testing.FindingsResults demonstrated that enhanced preventive measures had more positive impact on Airbnb consumers' attitudes toward the host, which was positively related to positive word of mouth and booking intention. Perceived risk and perceived motives mediated the relationship between preventive measures and attitude toward Airbnb hosts. Positive relationships between attitude toward the host and behavioral intentions were strengthened when PIOC was used than PSC. The negative relationship between preventive measures and perceived risk was enhanced when PIOC was used than PSC. Risk tolerance did not interact with messages strategy to impact the relationship between preventive measures and perceived risk.Originality/valueThe study uncovered the mechanisms by which consumers form their responses toward different safety information of Airbnb accommodations postpandemic and the role of message strategies in the process. It provided implications for the Airbnb platform and hosts in the postpandemic period.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to investigate the determinants influencing the willingness of office workers to use coffee houses services in Silom and Sathorn areas in Bangkok during the COVID-19 outbreak. The conceptual framework presented comprises variety seeking, desire for unique products, cosmopolitanism, personal innovativeness, product evaluation, behavioral intention impact willingness to use coffee house services. The sample (n = 490) was gathered from online questionnaires using convenience and snowball sampling techniques. The study employed the Structural Equation Model (SEM) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) for the data analysis to confirm reliability, validity, goodness-of-fit of the model, and hypotheses. The findings revealed that variety seeking and personal innovativeness significantly impacted product evaluation and behavioral intention. In contrast, the desire for unique products and cosmopolitanism had no impact on product evaluation and behavioral intention. In addition, both product evaluation and behavioral intention also had a significant impact on the willingness to use coffee house services. Therefore, for practical implications, business owners and entrepreneurs could enhance product varieties to attract more customers for better sales revenue generation.

This study aimed to investigate English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers' technology acceptance levels and to identify the factors affecting their behavioral intentions (BI) with respect to technology use in the post-COVID-19 era. A cross-sectional survey of 361 Malaysian ESL teachers was conducted. Participants were recruited via convenience sampling, and they answered an online survey questionnaire that was designed with reference to past studies. The collected data were analyzed via descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression analyses. The findings revealed that Malaysian ESL teachers generally had a high level of technology acceptance in the post-COVID-19 era. Their BIs had a significant relationship with three factors: performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), and social influence (SI), of which EE was identified as the most significant factor influencing their BI with respect to technology use in the post-COVID-19 era. Conversely, the presence of facilitating conditions did not have a substantial connection with ESL teachers' behavioral intentions for technology use after the pandemic, despite the fact that there was weak positive relationship with each other. This study provides insights for the field of educational psychology by identifying the current trends in ESL teachers' behavioral intentions in adopting technology in the post-COVID-19-era ESL classrooms. The findings of this study may also support investigations into technology acceptance in ESL teaching, illustrating a growing need to provide adequate educational and technological tools, resources, and facilities to facilitate the delivery of lessons by ESL teachers. Future studies should conduct longitudinal research and investigate more variables from different technology acceptance models.

ABSTRACT

Many researchers investigated university students' behavioural intention to undertake online courses during COVID. However, few examined how students' intention might change throughout COVID by incorporating their learning capability and approaches. The universities in China went through a process from lockdown in February to reopening in September 2020. It provided a unique context for university students in China to experience emergent online learning for approximately six months before returning to normal face-to-face or blended learning on campus. The researchers conducted a questionnaire survey among 193 Chinese university students to investigate the changes in their behavioral intention to learn online throughout COVID. Additionally, the researchers explored the relationships between the participants' behavioral intention and the factors of learning capability in general, application of specific online learning strategies, online course engagement levels, and academic performance. It was found that the participants' intention to study online significantly increased during COVID and then slightly decreased after the university reopened. The participants' intention of online learning after COVID was predicted by their prior intention, learning capability, application of online learning strategies, and online course engagement. The participants' perceptions about online learning revealed that, when choosing future course delivery modes, they would a) reflect on their own disposition, capability, and needs, b) compare different learning modes, and c) examine course quality and teachers' competency. The participants also shared advice regarding their expectation of future online courses which may help shape university educators' pedagogical practices and provide insights for university online and blended course delivery from learners' perspectives. A correlational study (n = 180 adults) in the United States tested the hypothesis that self-directed humor styles predict emotional responses to COVID-19, specifically stress and hopelessness, and in turn predict engagement in protective behaviors. Results from a sequential mediation analysis supported our hypotheses. First, to the extent that people have a self-enhancing humor style they perceived less stress and hopelessness associated with COVID-19 and as a result reported engaging in more protective behaviors. Second, people higher in self-defeating humor style showed the opposite pattern;they perceived more stress and hopelessness due to COVID-19 and thus reported engaging in less protective behaviors. ABSTRACT

Since the 2008 global financial crisis, many innovations have emerged in the financial sector as investors started to look for alternative methods to eliminate irrational decision-making in wealth management, and Robo-advisors is among those. Nine years after the first launching of Robo-advisors in the U.S. in 2008, the Securities Commission Malaysia has been issuing licenses to seven Robo-advisor platforms. The current COVID-19 outbreak has made this industry more in demand, increasing 763% in registration in 2020. However, much skepticism about Robo advisors' ability and reliability in providing a similar quality or better advisory service compared to human-financial advisors. Therefore, this study examines the factors influencing the acceptance of Robo-advisors in wealth management in Malaysia. Adopting some factors from various established technology acceptance models, an online survey with 122 respondents was conducted using convenience sampling. Findings show that Relative Advantage, Effort Expectancy, and Social Influence significantly positive influence the Malaysian Behavioral Intention to Accept Robo-Advisors. On the contrary, there is no significant relationship between Perceived Risk and Malaysian Behavioral Intention to Accept Robo-Advisors. The study provides a positive insight into factors influencing the acceptance of Robo-Advisors in Malaysia. © 2023 The Author(s).
